Based on the European patent of Fondis, Poujoulat has developed a solution for reducing the amount of CO in the smoke of older appliances, which are not complying with current standards anymore.
When the combustion is not optimum, the smokes of older wood-burning appliances contain carbon monoxide.
To reduce this carbon monoxide, Zero CO is inducing its oxidation with the oxygen contained in the smoke, the rate of CO decreases to <0.03%
Two systems are available :
- Catalytic convertor for closed fireplaces : Zero CO FF (catalytic convertor activated by an electrical resistance)
- Catalytic convertor for wood stoves : Zero CO PB
When the temperature in the appliance outlet is under 250°C a temperature sensor, included in the system, releases an electrical resistance for optimizing the reaction of the catalysis. A prefilter blocks the way of big dust.
Maintenance : access to the convertor through the inspection door of the hood, unscrew the front plate, take away the convertor and clean it with a hoover or a blower.
This has to be done twice per year but one during the heating season (for the Zero CO FF); once per week during the heating season (for the Zero CO PB)
